『繼 Google Play 移除社交媒體軟件 Parler 後，蘋果於當地時間 1 月 9 日宣布，Parler 已在 App store 下架。另外，亞馬遜亦宣布，不再向 Parler 提供網絡託管平台服務。如果 Parler 未能在當地時間周日找到另一網絡託管商願意提供服務，Parler 有可能在網上消失。 Parler 廣受美國總統特朗普支持者及右翼保守派的人士歡迎，周三（6 日）的美國國會衝突，Parler 被指是發動者用以組織行動的平台，備受輿論批評。蘋果指，Parler 未能提供充分措施，改善或預防涉及危險及不法活動的內容傳播，決定把軟件下架。』 如果自由的人民想跑到別的平台，還能找友好巨企繼續加以追殺。
美國媒體「Tech Crunch」引述 Parler 投資者、保守派評論員 Dan Bongino 就事件猛烈抨擊，形容蘋果為「科技界的暴君（Tech Tyrant）」，直斥「蘋果在偏好極權主義思想控制方面，無異於中國共產黨。（Apple is no different than the Chinese communist party in their preference for totalitarian thought control.）」他稱自己為這偉大國家中，熱愛自由的人民感到自豪，但同時亦對操控國家的「技術極權主義者」感到尷尬及震驚。
